This is the freaking camera to own if you’re serious about taking polaroids. Not only does it look incredible with it’s sleek silver design. but it’s an SLR. Through the viewfinder you can auto focus, or turn off the auto and manually do it yourself. Sample pictures here. We’re also throwing in a pack of Color Shade film from the impossible project. They usually sell them in packs of 3 for 45 dollars + shipping. But we’re throwing this in for free. Once you get the camera. Just insert the film and go shooting!

Since I’m one of many beta testers I thought I’d share with you guys some beta test film from the new PX 680 Color Shade for 600 Polaroid cameras by The Impossible Project. It may not seem like it, but this is a pretty big deal. There hasn’t been any new production of 600 instant color film since 2007 and the materials that were used to make them are no longer available. So the Impossible Project devised a entirely different chemistry from scratch. And this is it.
I’ll be posting a new photograph from the new 680 film, once a day for the next week or so on my photostream.
Official production of the 680 film should be available for purchase at the end of April/early May. So stay tuned.

I’m usually not a fan of explaining my photography, or explaining the concepts I’m trying capture. I tend to leave it up to the viewer because I like that sense of ambiguity, mysticism and understatement. I just think it makes things more interesting and is a more intelligent way to present art, rather than you telling the viewer how they SHOULD feel, you let them express what they feel. BUT in this case, I feel the need to explain…
I was walking along Torrey Pines beach again and found these rocks. I don’t know what it was, but something triggered a childhood memory. It was a vague one of me grabbing sticks and stones and pretending they were something else. And it kind of hit me how simple things around you, say a rock or a stick, with a little help of a childlike imagination could be something potentially amazing. So I found a piece of driftwood and pretended it was a sword.
I guess I’m an adult with a childlike imagination.
Another thing that made this shot especially hard was my self timer only went up to 12 seconds. So I had to run all the way to that edge right there, jumping from rock to rock in 12 seconds. I did a couple of test runs and was able to get there in 10-11 seconds. It only took one try.
